CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD
MAIN ON END TITLE SEQUENCE
Lead Artist Design, Animation and Concept Development
In connection to Leader’s mind-controlling flashing lights, this direction utilizes simple rectangle shapes inspired by the classic 70s political thriller style. The sequence visualizes an organized, yet hypnotic, display of patterns that abstractly intends to reflect the movie’s narrative progression. We structured the sequence in four narrative sections - Mind Control, Disruption, Teamwork, and Breaking Free.
I was responsible for developing the pitch frames that got this project awarded and that helped establish the bold and clean aesthetic of the sequence. In addition, I helped improve the look and animation of the flashing lights. We wanted the flickering animation to retain some realistic qualities similar to a real light, such as exposure and warmth.
In production, I worked on designing and animating multiple shots in the sequence, with a focus on the Mind Control section and the Final Lockup Buildup.
MIND CONTROL
The first section displays a very structured grid of flashing rectangles to represent Leader’s perfectly calculated plans.
DISRUPTION
In this section, we begin to see these perfectly organized rectangles change colors and scale/move out of their grid positions. This is to visualize Captain America’s actions disrupting The Leader’s plans.
TEAMWORK
Here we start creating more intricate patterns with the rectangle shapes. At this point, Captain America and Falcon are working together.
BREAKING FREE
On the Breaking Free section, these rectangles start ‘flying’ and breaking free of Leader’s control as a way to demonstrate that Captain America and his team have defeated Leader.
FINAL LOCKUP BUILDUP
To create the lockup shot, I had to come up with a way to seamlessly, and continuously, animate small rectangles shooting up the frame and have them collectively form the Captain America shield.

AWARDED PITCH FRAMES
I developed the pitch frames for this concept that strictly used rectangles to create beautiful compositions by balancing minimalism with sophistication. It references classic political thrillers, like Parallax View, reimagined with modern aesthetics. The original frames + the motion test I created in the pitch phase of this project turned out to be used as major inspiration until final delivery. As you can see, moments seen in the pitch, like the Directed by and the Lockup frame, remained in the final sequence.

MIND CONTROL MOODBOARD
Besides working on the title sequence of Captain America: Brave New World, I also created the Marvel Studios Logo seen in the beginning of the movie. It takes inspiration from the same visual language used to create the rectangle lights in the title sequence but, this time, we see the words Marvel Studios Presents flashing on screen.
